A course on Current Affairs and Public Speaking
This is a Level 2 year-long course (72 sessions) (available for students of grades 5-6 and 7-8) with some breaks in between to allow for school examinations. The course aims to develop confident global citizens who can talk about global issues in a group. The focus will be on discussing and debating 'Why' and 'How' of an issue/event instead of 'What'. Though this is a year-long course, students have an option to attend the course for a minimum of 3 months (24 sessions) and above.
This course will be very useful for students who wish to participate in Extempore, Debating, Model United Nation (MUN) and similar events. Since the students will have to research on the topic after every class, the course should generate curiosity among the young minds.
Here's a tentative list of topics that will be covered in these sessions. Every topic will be covered in 2 sessions of 75 mins (incl 5 mins break) each. There will be an overview of the topic by the mentor in the first session. Students will have to prepare a speech or talk based on online research and deliver the same in the second session. Students learn from their peers apart from the brief delivered by the mentor and self-research on the topic.
